Thanks for Bringing Hoops & Hope to Zambia

One million orphans in a country with twelve million people.   Located right outside the capital city of Zambia, the Tree of Life Children’s Village is for orphans from some of the most severe backgrounds of poverty, abuse and neglect. Our family has spent time in Zambia over the last four years serving these kids.  Our desire is to take the things that we’ve received and enjoyed and use them to serve these vulnerable children.

Sports and play can have a transformational impact in the lives of these needy children. While they enjoy a game together, they learn important values like cooperation, respect and diligence for the sake of self-improvement.   With basketball especially, kids can enjoy the game and get important physical exercise that can lead to productive and healthy lifestyles as adults.

Hoops for Hope is an initiative we launched to raise money to build an outdoor basketball court for the kids at Tree of Life orphanage.   This court with safe and permanent goals and a 60 x 100 full court concrete slab cost $20,000 to build.  Thanks to your help through Hoops For Hope, the court was built in 2014 and is enjoyed daily by the nearly 500 orphans at Tree of Life in Zambia.
